About Us

Anthyodaya Social Service Society

We aim to bring change in society by trying to uplift the oppressed community especially children through education, healthcare facilities & by overcoming evil social practices.

Anthyodaya Social Service Society is a nonprofit organization established in 2003 in Mudhol, Bagalkot (D), Karnataka.
Our objectives aim to empower and uplift oppressed communities by addressing social, educational, and health challenges. We provide protection, education, and healthcare to marginalized children, especially from the Madiga and Devadasi communities, ensuring access to quality education and strengthening formal education systems. By empowering community-based organizations (CBOs), we combat harmful practices like the devadasi system, child marriage, child labor, and trafficking, while building their advocacy and lobbying capacities. We promote gender sensitivity and life skills among adolescents and encourage children’s participation in self-governance through initiatives like “Children’s Parliament” and “Kishori Sanghas.” Additionally, we raise awareness on education, social issues, and human rights, collaborating with like-minded NGOs to drive meaningful change.

Our focus areas

An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society

Mission & Vision

OUR VISION

Formation of a just, equitable, creative, and concerned society in which the oppressed, deprived, and marginalized can live in dignity, mutual trust, and fellowship.

OUR MISSION

Organizing ‘Community-Based Organizations’ empowered through knowledge and competencies so as to take responsibility for their own liberation and development.

Programs

Skill Development of Adolescent Girls and Women

In collaboration with the Grama Panchayat at Mudhol, our organization orchestrated skill training sessions tailored for both Adolescent Girls and Devadasi women. This initiative aimed to empower these marginalized groups by equipping them with valuable skills for economic independence. The program focused on enhancing their vocational abilities, fostering self-reliance and dignity. Through community partnership and support, we facilitated a platform for personal and professional growth, ensuring inclusivity and empowerment for all participants. This endeavor signifies our commitment to social upliftment and the promotion of gender equality in Mudhol.

Fighting Against the Devadasi Practice

In earlier times the devadasis had a social standing as they served the royalty and the religious priests and led a life of comfort as they were recognized and respected for their artistic talents. They were singers and dancers, who also performed and were entrusted with the care of temple deities. But with changing times, the practice degenerated and reached a stage where it has become a supply chain to feed the red light areas. Our Devadasi mothers come together in Mudhol to advocate for their children.

Education Support

Education and awareness is the only solution to any social problem. Our education initiatives facilitate holistic development and promote inclusion for the marginalized sections. Our team member helps poor students in their Academics at Supportive Education Centre at Kishori Village.

State Level Children Parliament at Bengaluru

Our participation in the State-level Children's Parliament in Bengaluru was a significant opportunity for civic engagement and youth empowerment. This event fostered critical thinking, leadership skills, and civic responsibility among participating children. Through interactive sessions and debates, we encouraged active participation and the expression of diverse perspectives. Our involvement underscores our commitment to nurture future leaders and promote democratic values among the youth.

State Level Children Parliament

The children parliament provides sustainable and meaningful opportunities for children to engage in local, national, and international democratic processes. It enables children from all backgrounds and of all abilities to work together and to share experience that make active citizenship. Witnessing the importance of children’s parliament, we have taken up promotion of children’s parliament as one of the key activities to empower children. There are 584 children who are fully involved in children parliament activities.

Child Trafficking

Children are often trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation or labor – such as domestic servitude, agricultural work, factory work, and mining, or they are forced to fight in conflicts. The most vulnerable children, particularly refugees, and migrants, are often preyed upon and their hopes for education, a better job, or a better life in a new country are used as bait. Child trafficking in India also takes form when children are forcefully engaged in begging rackets and other such activities. We took an oath to protect children from trafficking and conducted an awareness program at Mudhol.

Our Impact

It is the small change that makes the biggest impact.
