Anthyodaya Social Service Society has something very positive to share with the readers. It has been working well for the development of the children in the village, and recently it has come up with a unit of the ‘children’s parliament’ which is a new attempt for creating awareness among children about the issues afflicting the society and for bringing some changes in the society.
Towards this end, a District level children’s parliament training was held at Mudhol, on
28th of October 2022. There were 50 children representatives from various NGOs, Schools and various
institutes to discuss the issues on children’s rights and how they are violated in Bagalkot District.
Children raised the issues such as deficiency of nutrients in children, lack of safety in school
buildings, transport-related problems, and rehabilitation of children in the context of the Act
to prevent Child Labour, Child Marriage, child drop outs, etc. Children were given the opportunity
to discuss in groups and after which a report was presented before the District officials. Children
came up with various questions which were eye openers to the officials to work more vigilantly.
